

BHRS / Wraparound Services:
This program offers services throughout
Outpatient Mental Health Counseling Center: Experienced mental health counselors provide counseling services to children, adolescents and adults. Specialized groups are available in both offices. These groups include anger management training and effective parenting. We offer a range of specialized services including martial counseling and gambling addiction services. We also provide psychiatric services in our Beaver and Lawrence offices.
Functional Family Therapy (FFT): An intensive community-based prevention / intervention program designed for youths and adolescents who have demonstrated a range of maladaptive, acting out behavior. This empirically grounded program has demonstrated success in wide variety of treatment settings. It has proven effective in community mental health, drug and alcohol programming, juvenile justice and educational settings.
Foster Care: Provides
a structured family environment for
children and adolescents who are in need of out of home
placement. Children and adolescents referred to
the program may have a history of abuse, neglect,
behavior problems, delinquency, or abandonment.
Community Alternatives, Inc. offers on-going extensive
support services to all parties involved. The
program focuses on self-discipline, behavior
modification, education, recreation, community
involvement, nurturing, family intervention, and
permanency.
Host Home: Specialized
family setting designed to meet the needs of children
under the age of eighteen (18) years that have
demonstrated maladaptive interpersonal behavior which
significantly impairs functioning. Placement in the Host
Home can be appropriately utilized as either a step-down
or step-up program. Experienced Surrogate parents and
Agency mental health and case management staff work
closely with the child and the biological family to
facilitate the transition back to the home. This program
provides an effective alternative to inpatient
hospitalization or residential treatment, for youth who
may no longer need the restrictiveness of those
programs, but who may not yet be ready to return to the
family setting.
In-Home Services: A family
and community-based mentoring program that fosters a
positive relationship between a supportive adult
advocate and a child or adolescent. The individualized
goals of this program include promoting positive family
interaction, educational skill development, social
skills development, and positive peer interaction. The
program offers an electronic monitoring / house arrest
component to those youth needing a more intensive
intervention and who are court involved.
Homemaker / Personal Care
Services: This program provides services that
are designed to meet the individualized needs of the
client. It promotes a healthy and safe home environment
for children and their families. Program staff will
assist families in developing skills necessary to
maintaining a healthy home and family. Skill development
training is provided in health and hygiene, nutrition,
budgeting, parenting and household management.
Supervised Visitation: The focus of this service is on the safety and appropriate interactions between children and their family members during visitation. This service is typically court ordered or mandated by Children and Youth Services. Program staff model healthy interaction skills and prompt parents during the visitation to encourage use of healthy communication / parenting skills. Staff monitor compliance with the court order or case plan requirements and provide reports to the contracting agency.
Anger management training:
Provided either in an individual or group format
depending upon the needs of the individual. It offers a
structured psycho-educational curriculum that teaches
skills and strategies to assist the individual in
understanding their anger, managing it successfully and
finding positive, pro-social alternatives to aggression
/ acting out behavior.
Effective Parenting: This
program offers parents the opportunity to learn proven,
effective techniques, to improve their parenting skills
and help them more effectively manage their child’s
behavior. Strategies of effective parenting include
instruction, behavioral modeling, and prompting. Topics
include the use of rewards and consequences, child
development, and healthy nutrition.
Correctional Alternatives Program: The Correctional Alternatives is an innovative alternative to juvenile detention. The program utilizes active GPS monitoring systems and mentoring to reduce recidivism, while saving counties in incarceration costs.
